Google introduce knol its own user-generated encyclopedia, to the public. Users can share knowledge in a wiki format, but with a twist that emphasizes accountability and control over an article’s content; Knol had previously been one of Google’s extensive beta products. The main feature of Knol is authorship. Every knol will have an author (or group of authors) who put their name behind their content.
Authors will have the option to enable Google ads and share in revenue. The pages will be made available to be found through a Knol-specific search as well as through Google itself or via other search engines, as they won’t be blocked from spiders.
You can import HTML, PDF, DOC, XLS and other popular file formats into Knol – the extracted text opens up in WYSIWYG editor where you can edit the formatting issues and publish.
